Tucked into five private acres on Tamborine Mountain, The Secret Garden Estate is one of those Gold Coast Hinterland venues that feels a world away the moment you turn off the main road — while still being an easy drive up from the coast. Mossy maples, agapanthus borders, the Romantic Steps and a sunset Garden Deck give you a soft, green, garden backdrop that photographs beautifully and asks for makeup to match: fresh, luminous and never heavy. We're Tina and Kristen, a sister duo who travel to you with everything we need to create relaxed, natural, sun-kissed bridal hair and makeup right where you're getting ready.
Because we come to the venue, your morning stays calm and unhurried. No driving down the range with your hair half-done, no juggling appointments in town before you've had coffee. We set up at The Cottage on the morning of your wedding, work through your bridal party at an easy pace, and have you camera-ready well before your photographer arrives. Both of us are fully trained in hair AND makeup, so on bigger mornings we work side by side as a team of two and keep everyone on schedule without ever feeling rushed.
The mountain has its own personality — cooler air, a touch of humidity, and gentle, filtered light through the garden trees. We build every look to suit it: skin that glows in soft canopy light, and hair with enough structure to hold through an outdoor ceremony, photos across the grounds and a long evening under the fairy lights on the Garden Deck.
Getting ready at The Secret Garden Estate
You get ready on-site at The Cottage — three bedrooms, a lounge and a private garden terrace — so there's genuine room for the bridal party to spread out without anyone tripping over a hair dryer. We bring our full mobile kit, chair and lighting and set up near the brightest window, keeping one calm corner for the styling chair while everyone else relaxes with coffee on the terrace.
Tamborine's filtered, leafy light is soft and flattering — lovely for photos, but it can read cool indoors under the trees. We always work to our own daylight-balanced lighting and warm the skin just enough so you look radiant rather than washed out, both in the garden for your ceremony and later under the warm fairy lights on the Garden Deck.
The mountain runs cooler and a little more humid than the coast, especially in the mornings, and this is a full ceremony-and-reception estate. We factor that in: hair gets internal structure so it stays soft but holds, and makeup is set to last from the Romantic Steps through photos across the grounds to a long sunset dinner on the deck.

We're both professionally trained in hair and makeup, fully insured, and we do this every weekend for brides across the Gold Coast, Hinterland, Tweed and Byron. As a sister duo you get the two of us personally — no assistants, no stranger turning up on the morning. You'll have a trial beforehand so there are no surprises on the day, just a calm morning and a look that feels completely like you.

What time should hair and makeup start at The Secret Garden Estate? +
For a mid-afternoon ceremony we usually arrive at The Cottage around 8am and start by 8:30am, which gives us plenty of time to work through your bridal party at a relaxed pace and finish with you about two hours before you walk out. Because the estate is up the range, we arrive a little earlier to set up. Once we know your ceremony time and how many people are getting done, we send you a tailored run sheet so the morning feels easy, not rushed.
Do you travel to The Secret Garden Estate on Tamborine Mountain? +
Yes — we're a fully mobile service and Tamborine Mountain is well within our regular Gold Coast Hinterland patch, around 40–45 minutes up from the coast. We come to you with everything we need, so you can get ready on-site at The Cottage or wherever you're staying.
Can you do hair and makeup for my whole bridal party at The Secret Garden Estate? +
Absolutely. As a sister duo who are both trained in hair and makeup, we can look after you plus your bridesmaids, mums and anyone else, and on larger parties we work together as a team of two to keep everything on time. Whether it's an intimate elopement or a full bridal party, just let us know your numbers and we'll plan around them.
Will my makeup last all day in the mountain air at The Secret Garden Estate? +
It will. Tamborine can be cooler and a touch humid, so we prep and set everything to last — long-wear, photo-friendly products and hair with structure underneath that stays soft but holds. You'll be camera-ready from your garden ceremony through to the evening on the deck, and we can leave you a small touch-up kit just in case.
