The Bower Estate sits high in the Gold Coast Hinterland at Natural Bridge, 120 acres of rolling green folded into the mountains where the air is cooler and the light comes through clean and bright. Getting ready up here happens in Bower Cottage, a little world of its own at the end of the valley, which means your morning is unhurried and entirely yours. We are Tina and Kristen, a sister duo, and we come to you, so there is no driving down the range with your hair half-done.
We are both fully trained in hair and makeup, so depending on your party we either split the room between us or work side by side as a team of two. The Bower's open-air ceremony spots and that big hinterland sky throw a lot of natural daylight, so we build your makeup to read beautifully in it — soft and luminous up close, but defined enough that you still look like you in every photo, whether you say your vows on the Verandah or out under the fig tree.
Our style is natural, sun-kissed and relaxed, never heavy or done-up. We want you to feel like the most rested, glowing version of yourself, and we want it to hold from your first look right through to the last dance under the clear marquee — through the warm afternoons and cool mountain evenings that come with a Natural Bridge wedding.
What we know about getting ready at The Bower Estate
You get ready in Bower Cottage, the on-site homestead that sleeps up to ten, so the whole bridal party can be here together rather than scattered across town. It is a proper space to spread out. We set up our chair near the best window and bring everything with us — lighting, products, the lot — so the cottage stays calm and you stay put.
The Bower is elevated and open, and that hinterland daylight is bright, with strong contrast between open sky and all that green. It is gorgeous light, but it shows everything, so we build skin to look luminous and real in it rather than flat or powdery. We always check your makeup at a window before we finish, so it reads beautifully out on the Verandah or under the fig tree, not just indoors.

What time should hair and makeup start for a wedding at The Bower Estate? +
For a typical mid-afternoon ceremony we usually start around 8am in Bower Cottage, with the bride finishing last so you are freshest for photos. The exact start depends on your party size and ceremony time, and because The Bower is around 45 minutes up the range we always build in extra travel time so we are set up and ready before we begin. We will map a precise run sheet for you once we know your details.
Do you travel to The Bower Estate at Natural Bridge? +
Yes — we are a fully mobile bridal hair and makeup duo and we come to you. We regularly travel up into the Gold Coast Hinterland and we set up right inside Bower Cottage, so you never have to leave the property or get ready off-site. Everything we need comes with us.
Can you do the whole bridal party, or just the bride? +
Both. Because we are two trained artists who both do hair and makeup, we can look after just the bride, or the bride plus a full bridal party and family. With larger groups we work side by side as a team of two to keep everyone on time, which is ideal for a destination morning at The Bower where the day runs to a schedule.
Will my makeup last all day in the hinterland? +
Yes. We use long-wear, photography-friendly products and set everything to hold. The cooler mountain air at Natural Bridge actually helps makeup sit well, and we prep your skin and lock it in so it lasts from your first look through the warm afternoon and into the cooler evening under the marquee. We can also leave you a touch-up lip.
