Tucked into five acres of award-winning gardens on Tamborine Mountain, Shambala Estate is one of those venues that feels a world away the moment you turn off Beacon Road. The cottages sit among the trees with rainforest all around them, and the whole morning slows right down. It's our kind of place. We're Tina and Kristen, a sister duo who travel to you with everything we need, so you never have to leave the estate or the people you love to get wedding-ready.
Because the estate is yours alone for the day and has four private cottages on site, you and your bridal party can settle into one space for the morning. The Shambala team confirms which cottages and getting-ready arrangements come with your package. We set up our chairs by the best window, lay out the kit, and work through the group while the kettle goes on and the photographer drifts in and out. No salon run, no traffic up the range, no rushing back for the ceremony. Just a calm, unhurried morning in a beautiful room.
Both of us are professionally trained in hair and makeup, so for larger parties we work side by side as a team of two and keep everyone moving. Our style suits this venue perfectly: natural, soft and a little beach-bohemian, skin that looks like skin, finished to photograph beautifully indoors or out, and to last through a long day of greenery, vows and dancing.
What we know about getting ready at Shambala Estate
Shambala's cottages are tucked among the rainforest, and being exclusive-use means the property is yours for the day. We base ourselves in one cottage and set up a proper styling station so the whole party gets ready together in one warm, private spot. Tip: ask the Shambala team early which cottage is yours for the morning, and keep the spa bath and fireplace for relaxing rather than crowding the getting-ready corner.
We never count on full sun in the room on a wedding morning, so soft, natural light is what we plan for. It's flattering, which is exactly why we lean natural rather than heavy. We position our chairs to catch the brightest window while we work, then build makeup that reads beautifully whether your ceremony is inside the Chapel or out in the Atrium, Gazebo or Waterfall Grotto.
Shambala sits up the range, and the venue asks for every supplier's access, setup and pack-down to be arranged with the Shambala team in advance, so we confirm our arrival time with them well before the day. We build the drive and that arrival time into the run sheet, working back from your ceremony time with a buffer so your hair and makeup are finished and set with time to breathe, photos done, before you walk. No last-minute rush.

What time should hair and makeup start at Shambala Estate? +
For a mid-afternoon ceremony we usually arrive around 8am and start by 8:30am, finishing with the bride last so your look is freshest for the aisle. The right start time depends on your ceremony time and party size. As a rough guide, allow about 45 minutes per person for hair and makeup combined. Once we know your details we'll send a clear run sheet and confirm our arrival time with the Shambala team.
Do you travel to Shambala Estate for wedding hair and makeup? +
Yes. We're a fully mobile service and Tamborine Mountain is well within our area. We come to your cottage on the estate (or wherever the Shambala team sets you up to get ready) with everything we need, so you and your bridal party get ready together on site without leaving the property. It's around 45–55 minutes up the range for us from the central Gold Coast, and we build that drive into the morning so we arrive early and unhurried.
Can you do hair and makeup for my whole bridal party at Shambala Estate? +
Absolutely. Both of us are trained in hair and makeup, so for larger groups we work as a team of two and move through the party efficiently, from an intimate bride-only morning up to a full party of six to eight. We'll talk through numbers and build a timeline that keeps the morning relaxed.
Will my makeup last all day at a hinterland venue like Shambala? +
Yes. We use long-wear, photography-friendly products with proper prep and setting, so your look holds from the morning in the cottage, through the ceremony and garden portraits, to a long evening of dancing. We finish with touch-up guidance, and the bride is always done last so everything is fresh for the walk down the aisle.
