Tucked into the foothills of Springbrook National Park on Boomerang Road, Ecostudio Fellini is one of those rare Gold Coast hinterland venues where the bush does most of the work for you. An open-air chapel sits over Mudgeeraba Creek, the split-level deck looks out across the lily pond and tropical gardens, and the whole five acres feels a world away from the coast even though the beach is only twenty-odd minutes down the hill. We love getting ready here because the green, filtered light flatters skin beautifully on camera, and the morning has a real calm to it.

We're Tina and Kristen, a sister duo who both trained in hair and makeup, and we come to you. Because Ecostudio Fellini has self-contained lodges right on the property, there's no rushing off to a salon and no traffic to factor in on the morning of your wedding. We arrive at your lodge, set up by the window, and the two of us work side by side so a full bridal party is ready calmly and on time. Whether it's just you or you plus a row of bridesmaids and your mum, you get both of us moving through the group together.

Our style is soft, natural and sun-kissed, made to suit the relaxed, beach-bohemian feeling of a hinterland wedding rather than fighting it. We build makeup that reads natural up close but still holds up through an open-air ceremony, photos by the lily pond and gardens, and dancing on the deck into the evening. Nothing heavy, nothing that slides in the humidity.

Getting ready at Ecostudio Fellini

The space

The self-contained on-site lodges are made for this. Private and surrounded by tropical garden, they give you somewhere to spread out, hang the dress and settle in while we work, instead of getting ready off-site and travelling in. We set up near the largest window, lay out our kit, and there's plenty of room for the whole party plus a coffee and a champagne without it feeling crowded.

The light

Because the property sits below the Springbrook canopy, the morning light here is soft and green-filtered rather than harsh. It's gorgeous, but it's also dim in spots, so we always bring our own daylight-balanced lighting to make sure your makeup is built true to colour and photographs exactly as it looks in the lodge. No surprises when you step out to the creek-side chapel.

The timing

Boomerang Road is a quiet road into the hills, so the morning is unhurried, but the open-air chapel over Mudgeeraba Creek means your ceremony is at the mercy of the afternoon weather and the day's flow. We build a small buffer into the run sheet and finish you well before first-look or pre-ceremony photos, so you're never being rushed while guests are arriving.

We arrive at your lodge

Both of us arrive at the on-site lodge, set up by the best window with our own lighting, and get the kettle going. A relaxed start with the whole party together.

Bridal party begins

We work side by side through bridesmaids, mums and flower girls, two of us at once so the group moves quickly and nobody is left waiting around in their robe.

12:00 pm

The bride

You go last so your hair and makeup are at their freshest for the ceremony and photos. We take our time and make sure you feel completely like yourself.

1:30 pm

Final touch-ups

Lip, powder and a last set of eyes over everyone before you walk down to the creek-side chapel. We can stay through to help you into the dress and steady any nerves.

For a mid-afternoon ceremony in the open-air chapel, we'd usually start around 8 to 8:30 am for a bridal party of four to five. Yes, we're a fully mobile bridal hair and makeup service and Mudgeeraba is right in our home patch. We come to your on-site lodge with everything we need, including our own professional lighting for the soft hinterland light. Travel is included for Gold Coast venues like this one.
